Big news for Aussies 🇦🇺🎉
Traveling to China is about to get much easier for Australian passport holders. China has officially announced that Australia is joining its visa-waiver program, meaning Australians will be able to visit China without applying for a visa, just like travelers from New Zealand and many European countries.
This move surprised a lot of people. Australia, like New Zealand, is part of the Five Eyes alliance together with the US, the UK, and Canada. Until now, none of these countries had visa-free access to China, which makes this update even more interesting.
At first, there was no exact start date, but based on past experience, these changes usually happen fast. And now it’s official.
Update – July 25, 2024: From July 1, 2024, to December 31, 2025, Australian citizens holding ordinary passports can enter China visa-free for up to 15 days. This applies to tourism, business trips, visiting friends or family, and transit.
As a travel-focused media platform 🫣, we’re happy to see barriers coming down. Hopefully, one day traveling anywhere in the world won’t require paperwork at all. Which country do you think will be next to join China’s visa-waiver program? Let us know in the comments 👇
