Big news for New Zealand passport holders! On June 13, 2024, Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced that New Zealand will be added to China’s unilateral visa-free list. He also expressed hope that New Zealand will make travel easier for Chinese visitors in return.
At first, there was no official start date, but based on past experience, these policies usually roll out very quickly, often within just a few weeks.
Update – July 25, 2024: From July 1, 2024, to December 31, 2025, New Zealand citizens holding ordinary passports can enter China visa-free for up to 15 days. This applies to tourism, business trips, visiting friends or family, and transit.
